There is a constant, URGENT need for volunteers to assist with the welcoming process at the Hospitality Center managed by the Catholic Diocese of El Paso Texas. Volunteers provide support to migrants before they move on to their final destination. You may help with transporting migrants to the airport or bus station, keeping hospitality center areas clean, sorting donations, making hygiene kits, or travelling bags. If needed, you may be asked to cover the night shift. The welcoming process starts with a brief welcoming and orientation after migrants get off the bus that brings them to the hospitality centers; it continues with registration, a COVID test, and lunch. If their result is negative, the migrants move on to the travelling arrangements section, then to receiving a change of clothes, towel and hygiene kit to go shower. After their shower, they return to the dormitory area and continue the process of securing their bus or plane tickets. They will sleep at the HC if need be before it is time for them to depart to catch a bus or plane. The Center will transport them to the airport or bus station 3 hours before their departure so they will continue on to their final destination.
HOW LONG: as long one can stay but no less than two weeks at a time.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: There are NO language requirements. However, there is a need for Turkish speakers so if you speak Turkish, you would be very welcome to join the team.
LODGING: There is limited lodging at the Diocesan grounds. Most likely, you will have to find your own accommodations. For more information on lodging and other questions about the job, please contact the Director at the address below.
TRANSPORTATION: You will need to have your own vehicle
CLEARANCE: The Center requires a background check that they provide.
IF INTERESTED, CONTACT: Marco Raposo, hospitality center director at email@example.com and/or 915-497-5369
